The Shofarot Declare

We can never go back

Not really.

The shofarot declare:

‘Repent! Turn back!’

But the world of before

Cannot exist in the world of now

And any world to come.

Seeking to return

Is but a facsimile.

Ersatz teshuvah

Erases the slates.

True teshuvah

Requires us to

Return to an undiscovered world.

Fumbling forward,

Looking backwards,

Chained in this moment.

Return to the way things were

Is unsustainable.

So, return!

Return to who you are

And could be.

Return to becoming

And do what you can.

Just because you

Can’t go back

Doesn’t mean

You can stay still.
